DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Use these questions to talk through the message together.
Use these questions to talk through the message together.
- Read John 11:1-16. Try to put yourselves in the shoes (sandals?!) of Jesus’ followers. What questions might you have for Jesus in this situation? How would you feel about going with him to a place where people have already started to threaten his life (and your safety)?
- Read John 11:17-37. Have you ever had a time when God didn’t answer your prayer(s) or show up for you in the way you the he should/would? How did this situation impact your faith then and how does it inform your faith now?
- Read John 11:38-44. How might Jesus’ prayer encourage our own life of connection to God (the Father) through prayer? Is there a particular situation in your life where you desperately need God to hear you right now?
GOING DEEPER
For groups who want to dig further into the scripture or topic.
For groups who want to dig further into the scripture or topic.
- Read John 11:45-53. How does this “unconscious prophecy” from Caiaphas further demonstrate the “Glory of God” through the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus?
- In Philippians 1:21, Paul says, “To live is Christ, to die is gain.” What does this scripture mean to you and how does it inform your understanding of Jesus as the Resurrection and the life?
WEEKLY CHALLENGE
This week, spend time in prayer reflecting on how you might need Jesus to be both Resurrection and the fullness of life for you right now. If you are in a good season of life, ask yourself if there is someone you know that needs to experience the invitation into the life of Christ through you.
