KidsPoint Devotional: (September Week 4)

BLOOM (Birth-Kindergarten)
This month in Bloom, we are talking about how God has a plan for all of us. Our memory verse for the month of September is “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:11, NLT

This past Sunday (September 28th), we read about Abraham and Sarah and how God promised them a son in their old age. We discussed that even though it seemed impossible for them to have a son, they chose to trust God. We learned that by trusting in God’s plan, Abraham and Sarah had a son named Issac and eventually, hundreds of years later, JESUS was born into Abraham’s family!

We encourage you to read Genesis 12:1-3; 15:1-5; 21:1-5 with your kids and discuss the following questions.
  • When was a time you had to wait a LONG time for something?
  • Do you think it was hard for Abraham to wait SO LONG for God’s promise?
  • Why was it important that Abraham trusted God?

We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.

UPSTREET/ROUTE45 (1st-5th Grade)
This month in UpStreet/Route45, we are talking about having God’s plan for our lives and how we can step into that plan. Our memory verse for this month is “When I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3 NIrV

This past Sunday (September 28th), we read about Ruth and her unwavering faith in God. We discussed how even though Ruth and Naomi had no idea what their lives were going to look like for them, they remained full of faith in God. We learned that even in the unexpected or unwanted things in life, God is still there and God will always provide. When we are scared or uncertain, God knows what He is doing and we can have courage to trust Him and keep going.

We encourage you to read Ruth 1:3-5; 15-19; 2:1-12; 4:9-10; with your kids and discuss the following questions.
  • How would you feel in a foreign land where you knew no one and you had nothing?
  • What are ways you see God taking care of Ruth?
  • How can we trust God the same way Ruth did?

We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.

A note from the KidsPoint team.

Hello Parents!

We are so excited for all that God has in store for us this year, not only in KidsPoint but as a whole at BridgePoint. We believe that our kids are vital to the mission of our church, as well as the future of our communities. As part of our vision for this year, we want to partner with you, parents, to help incorporate more biblical practices in the daily life of our kids. We want to be intentional in teaching our kids how to take real ownership of their relationship with God and we believe that begins in your home.

Starting this year, KidsPoint is sending out weekly devotions and discussion questions for you and your kids. These devotions will be short but they will coincide with what your child is currently learning in KidsPoint. We encourage you to take some time throughout the week to sit down with your kids and discuss what God is teaching them and how they can apply it to their everyday life. This could be at the dinner table, in the car on the way to a sports game/practice, or even before bed. Our hope is that these devotions will assist you in helping foster your child’s relationship with God every day, as well as challenge them to dig deeper into their faith and in God’s word.

We look forward to all God has in store for you and your kids as well as our entire church family!

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Sincerely,

The KidsPoint Team
