KidsPoint Devotional: (January Week 2)
BLOOM (Birth-Kindergarten)
This month in Bloom, we are talking about leadership! We all have a role to play in God’s big story. This month’s memory verse is “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve” Matthew 20:28
This past Sunday (January 11th), we learned about shepherd leadership. We read about David being anointed as king even though he was a lowly shepherd. We learned that shepherd leaders are leaders who protect other people’s hearts and they are faithful in the little things.
We encourage you to read 1 Samuel 16:1-13 with your kids and discuss the following questions.
We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.
UPSTREET/ROUTE45 (1st-5th Grade)
This month in UpStreet/Route45, we are talking about leadership! We all have a role to play in God’s big story and each of us has a specific calling. This month’s memory verse is “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve” Matthew 20:28
This past Sunday (January 11th), we learned about how to be a shepherd leader. We read about David who was a lowly shepherd that God called to be king. Though David was smaller than his brothers and not respected by others, God saw his heart. We discussed that shepherd leaders care for others just like shepherds care for sheep. They guide them, protect them and they care HOW they lead. Shepherd leaders are faithful in the small things even who no one notices.
We encourage you to read 1 Samuel 16:1-13 and John 10:11 with your kids and discuss the following questions.
We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.

- What is an example of a shepherd leader?
- What does it mean in 1 Samuel 16:7 when it says, "Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart". What does it mean to look at the heart?
- Jesus said He is a good shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. What are some ways we can make loving choices that help others, even when it’s hard?
We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.

A note from the KidsPoint team.
Hello Parents!
We are so excited for all that God has in store for us this year, not only in KidsPoint but as a whole at BridgePoint. We believe that our kids are vital to the mission of our church, as well as the future of our communities. As part of our vision for this year, we want to partner with you, parents, to help incorporate more biblical practices in the daily life of our kids. We want to be intentional in teaching our kids how to take real ownership of their relationship with God and we believe that begins in your home.
Starting this year, KidsPoint is sending out weekly devotions and discussion questions for you and your kids. These devotions will be short but they will coincide with what your child is currently learning in KidsPoint. We encourage you to take some time throughout the week to sit down with your kids and discuss what God is teaching them and how they can apply it to their everyday life. This could be at the dinner table, in the car on the way to a sports game/practice, or even before bed. Our hope is that these devotions will assist you in helping foster your child’s relationship with God every day, as well as challenge them to dig deeper into their faith and in God’s word.
We look forward to all God has in store for you and your kids as well as our entire church family!
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Sincerely,
The KidsPoint Team
