This Week's KidsPoint Devotional (February Week 3)

BLOOM (Birth-Kindergarten)
This month in Bloom, we are talking about how Jesus loves EVERYONE no matter who they are! Our memory verse for the month of February is “Love each other in the same way I have loved you.” John 15:12, NLT

This past Sunday (Feb 16th),  we talked about Jesus loves EVERYONE and He wants EVERYONE to follow Him! We talked about the first four disciples that Jesus called to follow Him. This week we focused on Phillip and Nathaniel who were friends. Phillip met Jesus and knew immediately that Jesus was the Son of God. Phillip went and found his friend Nathaniel and told him to come meet Jesus. They both became disciples of Jesus!

We encourage you to read  John 1:43-49 with your kids and discuss the following questions.
  • Jesus told Nathaniel that He already knew him before they met. How does it make you feel to know that Jesus knows EVERYTHING about you?
  • What does it mean to follow Jesus? How can we follow Him everyday?
  • How can we be a disciple of Jesus this week?

We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.

UPSTREET- (1st-5th Grade)
This month in UpStreet, we are talking about how God made each of us unique and special. Our memory verse is, “How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well.” Psalm 139:14, NIrV

This past Sunday (Feb 16th), we talked about how God made each of us in our own special and unique way and that we can use those gifts to make a difference. We talked about how our gifts can be used by God in ways we could have never imagined. We learned about Lydia in the Bible whose gift was making purple cloth. She was in the marketplace selling her cloth when she heard Paul preaching and became a follower of Jesus. Years later, Lydia’s house became the first home church or “life group” in Philippi which led to many people becoming saved.

We encourage you to read Acts 16:11-15 and Acts 16:40 with your kids and discuss the following questions.
  • Lydia’s gift for making purple cloth put her in the marketplace at the EXACT time that Paul was preaching which led to her becoming a follower of Jesus and hosting the first house church in Philippi. What do you think would have happened in Philippi if Lydia had not used her gift of making cloth?
  • If you already know what your gifts and talents are, how can we use our gifts to reach others for Jesus? (talents could be sports, art, music, etc)
  • If you DON’T know yet what your gifts and talents are, how can you discover which gifts God has given you?

We encourage you to pray with your child after devotion.

A note from the KidsPoint team.

Hi KidsPoint Parents and Happy New Year!

We are so excited for all that God has in store for us this year, not only in KidsPoint but as a whole at BridgePoint. As we have been in a season of transition with KidsPoint, we have found ourselves being very intentional in prayer asking God what our vision should be for KidsPoint in the years to come.

We as a team, we believe that our kids are vital to the mission of our church, as well as the future of our communities. We have prayed about how to invest in the future of our kids and what that looks like on a practical level. As you know, at the beginning of each month, we send out a newsletter for KidsPoint. We do this because we want to ensure that all parents are actively involved in their child’s growing relationship with God. As part of our vision for the new year, we want to partner with you, parents, to help incorporate more biblical practices in the daily life of our kids. We want to be intentional in teaching our kids how to take real ownership of their relationship with God and we believe that begins in your home.

Starting this year, we will be sending out weekly devotions and discussion questions for you and your kids. These devotions will be short but they will coincide with what your child is currently learning in KidsPoint. We encourage you to take some time throughout the week to sit down with your kids and discuss what God is teaching them and how they can apply it to their everyday life. This could be at the dinner table, in the car on the way to a sports game/practice, or even before bed. Our hope is that these devotions will assist you in helping foster your child’s relationship with God every day, as well as challenge them to dig deeper into their faith and in God’s word.

We look forward to all God has in store for you and your kids as well as our entire church family!

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Sincerely,

The KidsPoint Team
