Group Discussion Guide

Rhythms, Part 5

This guide is designed to help your group create a space for genuine connection and conversation within your discussion time. Don't feel pressured to address every question each week. Instead, allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you lead your group in uncovering what God intends to communicate during your time together.

This guide comprises three sections: Loving, Learning, and Living. Each section aims to steer your conversation towards meaningful discussions about spiritual growth as individuals and as members of the body of Christ.

LOVING

First moments together as a group to connect and pray (approx. 10-15 min).
  • How have you seen God at work in your life since the last time we met?
  • What has been one high and one low since the last time we met?
  • How did you do with living out what we talked about last time we met?

Open with prayer and invite God to be part of your conversation and relationship.

LEARNING

Scripture References from Message: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13–16, Ephesians 2:10
Big Idea: Your body is the gift of God’s home for your becoming.
God chose to dwell in us, which means our physical bodies are not obstacles to spiritual growth. They are the very place where God meets us, forms us, and grows us into who He is making us to be. How have you experienced your physical condition affecting your spiritual condition? What does that reveal about the way God designed us?

This practice is not about fitness, appearance, or performance. It is about paying attention to hunger, rest, quiet, activity, and even limits as invitations from God. Which physical rhythms are easiest for you to ignore, and what do you think God might be trying to say through them?

Read Romans 12:1–2. Paul says to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. What does it mean for your physical life to be an act of worship and not just something you “manage”?

Choose one of these passages: Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13–16, Ephesians 2:10. How do these scriptures shape your understanding of your body as intentionally created, deeply known, and purposefully formed by God?

Since we are practicing physical connections with God today, talk about a posture or movement that naturally helps you slow down and sense God’s presence. Why do you think that practice speaks to you?

LIVING

The challenge for the week ahead is to grow in our faith and lovingly hold each other accountable through the community.

Each day this week, set aside five minutes to practice a simple physical rhythm of prayer. This could be deep breathing, a slow walk, kneeling, lifting your hands, or sitting quietly with open palms. As you do it, pray: “God, this is your home. Shape me here.”
