Group Discussion Guide
Storyline, Part 1
This guide is designed to help your group create a space for genuine connection and conversation within your discussion time. Don't feel pressured to address every question each week. Instead, allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you lead your group in uncovering what God intends to communicate during your time together.
This guide comprises three sections: Loving, Learning, and Living. Each section aims to steer your conversation towards meaningful discussions about spiritual growth as individuals and as members of the body of Christ.

LOVING
First moments together as a group to connect and pray (approx. 10-15 min).
Open with prayer and invite God to be part of your conversation and relationship.
- How have you seen God at work in your life since the last time we met?
- What has been one high and one low since the last time we met?
- How did you do with living out what we talked about last time we met?
Open with prayer and invite God to be part of your conversation and relationship.
LEARNING
The majority of the group discussion is devoted to open dialogue, reflecting on God’s Word and its personal application to each of our lives (approx. 60-75 min).
Scripture References from Message: Genesis 3:1-15, Romans 5:12-20
Big Idea from Message: Sin broke what was good and we’re all affected. But God didn’t walk away.
This week we kicked off a new series called Storyline, zooming way out to see the big picture of Scripture. We started in Genesis and explored how God created everything good, and how sin fractured that goodness. When you think about God calling creation “good,” what does that say about His intentions for the world and for you?
Even in the midst of brokenness, God didn't walk away. His plan for redemption began the moment things went wrong. Where do you most clearly see the effects of sin - either in the world around you or in your own story?
What are some of the subtle lies or doubts you’ve noticed creep into your own thinking about God’s goodness or His boundaries?
The sermon ended with a challenge to sit in the bad news because it helps us grasp the good news. Why do you think it’s important to fully understand the weight of sin before we talk about rescue or grace?
What are some ways people today try to hide from God, from others, or even from themselves? Where do you find yourself doing that?

LIVING
The challenge for the week ahead is to grow in our faith and lovingly hold each other accountable through the community.
Take one intentional step this week to be honest with God. Whether it’s confessing something you’ve hidden, asking for clarity where you’re doubting His goodness, or inviting Him into a place you’ve felt shame, don’t stay hidden. He hasn’t walked away. Write it down and spend a few minutes every day confessing it before God and feeling his forgiveness overwhelm you.
